31 December 2016 – 1 January 2017
24hr Metta this year will be held on 31 Dec 2016 right through to 1 Jan 2017 at Samadhi Vihara in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
This is the sixth consecutive year that 24hr Metta is held since it was first introduced in 2011 to bring together Buddhist organisations and groups in 24hr chanting and prayer for world peace, harmony and stability.
From the participation of 30 groups – 24 onsite and 6 joining from offsite locations – in the first year, 24hr Metta has since grown to attract participation from 54 groups in total last year: 32 onsite and 22 more from various parts of the world.
In addition to being timed for it to be meaningful to usher in 2017, a new element of around-the-world, round-the-clock metta meditation is introduced. The One World One Time One Metta event facilitates a metta hour from 8 pm in every time zone.
Connect with us from where ever you are and join us to chant/meditate during the 24 hours of Dec 31 to Jan 1. Let us know by dropping us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org if you can organise a group to do this for a certain hour. We will announce your group’s participation onsite during that particular hour.
And if you can also rally a group to join in the One World One Time One Metta at 8pm in your time zone, also let us know by dropping us a note at email@example.com. We are trying to have at least one group joining in at each time zone for the 8 pm hour to be metta hour round the world.
Be part of this major initiative to illuminate the world with metta for world peace, harmony and stability to prevail.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach this meaningful event.
